I have built a college basketball formula to rate, compare and analyze all 351 D-1 teams.
The statistics I use to determine my formula include:
2%, 3%, Defensive 2% and 3%, FT%, Offensive and Defensive Rebounding %, Turnover %, Defensive Tumover %, 3% Rate, SOS, Blocks, Steals, Pace, Home Court %, Field Goal Attempts, Defensive Field Goal Attempts, Free Throw Attempts, Defensive Free Throw Attempts
These are each weighed differently and share different relationships in the formula, as well as get compared to the D-1 average. For example, a team who excels on the offensive glass (40%) going up against a team struggles on the defensive glass (65%) will see a boosted OR% of 1.4*(40%-29%) - 0.71*(65%-71%) + 29% = 48.66%, which leads to more shots for them and less shots for their opponents.. this example, 29% represents average OR%, 71% as average DR%, and 1.4 and 0.71 as multipliers.
Formula is my own.
Included now are the offensive/defensive ratings, as well as a "MATCHUP" tab.
